FOUNDATIONS

A place where culture is lived, shared, and preserved.

Karvaan India is not only a digital newsroom. It is envisioned as a public-interest media and community platform, with journalism at its core and Cafe Karvaan as its physical extension.

Community

The cafe will host talks, public debates, screenings, book readings, workshops, lectures and other cultural and community events. It will provide a space where journalists, writers, academics, artists, lawyers, activists, students and members of the public can come together to discuss ideas and issues that affect society

Stories & Conversations

Cafe Karvaan will also allow Karvaan India to build a community around its journalism. The intention is to create a space where journalism does not end with a story being published, but can lead to conversations, questions, disagreements, learning and collective engagement.

Testimonials

What learners say about us

As a participant in Karvaan’s first Urdu workshop, I was introduced to a refreshing way of learning the language. With the help of technology, Tanzil Sir made reading and writing Urdu accessible over the course of several Sunday sessions. I especially enjoyed the literature and poetry he carefully selected for the classes. Karvaan’s warm and welcoming ambience made it the perfect place for a small, diverse group of people to come together through their shared love of the language.

Mallika Vishwanathan

From Urdu Workshop

A wonderful course, even for someone with no prior knowledge of the language. I still can’t believe I was able to read Urdu after just four classes. Zeeshan was always ready to help, encourage, and guide us throughout the course. Thank you, Karvaan, for such a wonderful learning experience.

Sanjay Agarwal

From Urdu Workshop

This was my second time learning Urdu through a workshop organised by Karvaan India, and it was just as rewarding as the first. While the course is thoughtfully structured and exceptionally well taught, what truly sets it apart is the use of technology to make a sophisticated language like Urdu easy to understand and enjoyable to learn. I had the pleasure of learning from both Mr. Tanzil and Zeeshan, and they are outstanding teachers. I highly recommend this workshop to anyone interested in learning Urdu.
