About this event
The Tughlaqabad walk takes you into one of Delhi’s most dramatic and least visited chapters. Built in the 14th century under Ghiyasuddin Tughlaq, Tughlaqabad was conceived as an impregnable city, massive, militaristic, and built at extraordinary speed. It was also, famously, abandoned almost as soon as it was completed. This walk moves through the ruins of that ambition: the fortifications, the citadel, the reservoir, the tomb. It traces the arc from the Mamluk sultanate to the Tughlaqs and asks what it means for a city to be built, inhabited, and forgotten within a single reign.
