Malegaon Terror accused and BJP member Pragya Thakur referred to Mahatma Gandhi’s assassin Nathuram Godse as a “deshbhakt” yet again during a debate on Special Protect Group Bill in Lok Sabha today. This triggered a strong protest by opposition members.

Here are the Hi-5 from what happened in the parliament

1-Sadhvi Pragya made the “deshbhakt” remark in response to DMK leader A Raja citing a statement of Godse on why he killed Gandhi during a discussion on the Special Protection Group Bill.

2-Raja said that Godse himself had admitted that he nursed a grudge against   Gandhi for 32 years before finally deciding to assassinate him.

3-Commenting on the bill Raja also stated that security should be based on threat perception and not because of political reasons.

4-This isn’t the first instance when Thakur has described Godse as a patriot. In May, Pragya had caused another nationwide protests during the Lok Sabha campaign by saying that “Godse was a deshbhakt, is a deshbhakt and will remain one.”

5-Gaurav Gogoi of the Congress demanded an apology from Pragya.
