After weeks of tension between the two giants of Asia, in which 20 deaths on the Indian side were reported while the other didn’t reveal the numbers, have started deescalating.

According to a report in Al Jazeera, “The Chinese military was seen dismantling tents and structures on Monday at a location in the Galwan Valley near the site of the latest clash, Indian government sources, who declined to be identified as they are not authorized to speak to the media, told Reuters news agency.”

While the situation at the frontier seems to be cooling down, for the time being, a domestic crisis is simmering as India’s coronavirus cases outrun Russia, to become a third worst-hit nation.

India registered 24,248 positive cases in the last 24 hours taking the tally to 697,413. The deaths have already outdone the mark of 20,000.

On the other hand, Russia has just over 681,000 according to the Washington Post. New Delhi and Mumbai are the worst-hit cities with 100,000 cases each. Around 3,000 have died in the capital and nearly 5,000 in Mumbai.

In another story on the rising coronavirus cases, a Delhi family of 17 members has tested positive. The Washington Post reported, “They were 17 people in all, ranging in age from 3 months to 90 years,” and all have tested positive.
