Being done as a nationwide call of the All India Kisan Sangrash Coordination Committee (AIKSCC), thirty farmer unions will be participating in ‘Chakka jam’ at more than 100 locations in Punjab on Thursday. More than 250 farmer organisations across the country will be participating in the ‘Chakka jam’ from 12 pm to 4 pm on state as well as national highways.
Farmers unions from Haryana have also announced that they will block national highways from 12 pm to 4 pm on Thursday. According to the police, the Bhartiya Kisan Union led by Gurnam Singh Chaduni has announced that it will hold a major protest to block the highway at one location near Nilokheri in Karnal. Hence, districts falling under Hisar, Rohtak and Ambala police range will have a tightened security, reports The Indian Express.
“After Chakka Jam, we will plan our strategy for the November 26-27 Delhi Chalo nationwide program for which the Delhi Municipal Corporation and even Union government have given us permission to protest at the Ramleela Maidan from November 26 to 28. We are waiting for approval from Delhi Police,” Jagmohan Singh Patiala, a committee member of the AIKSCC, told The Indian Express.
While Bhartiya Kisan Sanghrash Samiti state president Vikas Sisar claimed they will stage protests to raise their voice against the “anti-farmer” laws, farmers in Punjab will also be protesting across the state against suspension of goods trains, confirmed Jagmohan Singh Patiala.
