News- Vaishno Devi Shrine was extolled by many when it offered sehri to Muslims quarantined in Jammu during Ramdan. Now the Bajrang Dal is demanding resignation of CEO of the Shrine Board for organizing the sehri.

Here are five components of the story

  • Naveen Soodan who is the state president of the Bajrang Dal said, “By organizing iftari, Ramesh Kumar, CEO of Shrine Board has hurt the sentiments of the Hindu community. Within 72 hours we want him to apologize or resign from the post.”
  • The demand by the Bajrang Dal state president is vindictive of the communal spirit shown by Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board when it prepared sehri and iftari to 500 Muslims quarantined at Katra during Ramadan.
  • “This is Hindu money and should be used for the welfare of Hindu community only,” added Soodan.
  • Many people rebuked Bajrang Dal president’s demand who is trying to break the communal harmony of India.
  • Despite the recent spate in Islamophobia and violence against Muslims, Vaishno Devi Shrine showed the picture of a diverse India. Yet Bajrang Dal’s demand for the board’s CEO resignation dampens the hope for any further intercession between communities.
